What a rich and layered practice. The through-line you've built — from scarification to barcodes, lace to commodification — is conceptually cohesive and deeply grounded. A few thoughts: The motif of the line itself is doing a lot of work here, and productively so. It operates simultaneously as mark-making, measurement, containment, and connection. You might consider making that multiplicity even more explicit in how you talk about the work — the line as both wound and decoration, both data and identity, is a strong anchor. The lace detail is particularly compelling because it introduces ambiguity into what could otherwise read as a more didactic framework. Lace conceals and reveals simultaneously, it's domestic and ornamental yet structurally complex — and its history is tied to labor, femininity, and class in ways that could deepen the conversation around the Black figure you're centering.
